Rajpal Yadav case hearing: Court says he has to go to jail

Rajpal Yadav Rs 9 crore debt case hearing: The court says the actor has to go to jail, he didn't honour his commitment

Rajpal Yadav has surrendered himself to jail in a cheque bounce case. Rajpal was taken into custody after the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea seeking additional time to clear dues in a long-pending cheque-bounce matter. The total outstanding amount stands at nearly Rs 9 crore. In its recent order, the Delhi High Court observed that Rajpal was required to deposit Rs 1.5 crore in each of the seven cases filed against him. The court also directed that the amount already deposited with the registrar general be released to the complainant. However, as the actor failed to do so, he was asked to surrender to the Tihar jail and the court refused to give him more time. A hearing regarding his bail is happening today, February 12. According to Bar And Bench, the Delhi High court told Yadav, “You have gone to jail because you didn’t honour your own commitment.” The Court says that on at least two dozen occasions, Yadav made statements saying he would honour his commitment and pay the money, but failed to do so.During the proceedings, the Court observed that Yadav’s counsel had earlier assured that the payment would be made directly to the complainant, a commitment that Yadav himself had also echoed before the bench. However, the Court pointed out that today his lawyers stated they would instead deposit the amount before the Court. Justice Sharma instructed Yadav’s counsel to reach a clear decision, adding that the matter would be taken up again at 2:30 PM today.Meanwhile, the film fraternity has come forward in order to support the actor, emotionally and financially. Yadav had made an emotional statement before surrendering himself to the authorities and confessed he doesn’t have any money and is all alone in this battle. Post that, several celebs have come forward and offered support to him. After Sonu Soon, Guru Randhawa pledged to help him, Mika Singh has now offered help of Rs 11 lakh to the actor.Rajpal Yadav’s wife Radha expressed gratitude to those extending support during this difficult period. When asked about the response from the industry, Radha said in an interview with PTI, “Everybody has stood by him. The industry has been supportive, a big thank you to everyone who is coming out to help.” Several members of the industry and even the TV industry, like Gurmeet Chaudhary and music composer Rao Inderjit Yadav, have publicly offered financial help and encouraged others to contribute as well.
