Putting an end to the rumours, Raghava Lawrence categorically said, “I will not contest from Trichy East. Joining politics today and immediately becoming an MLA is not dharma.” Explaining his decision, he added, “Vijay may have already chosen someone for that constituency, or there may be many dedicated TVK workers who have been serving the party for years. The opportunity should go to one of them, not to me.” His statement has effectively ruled out reports that he would enter the electoral fray from Trichy East under the TVK banner.

Raghava Lawrence also spoke about the personal side of his political journey. “After all the recent controversy, my mother once again told me not to enter politics,” he revealed.
