Raadhika calms rift at Bharathiraja’s funeral

What happened at Bharathiraja’s funeral? Raadhika intervened to prevent the family rift from escalating

An emotional atmosphere prevailed across Tamil Nadu as legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja was given a final farewell. A star-studded gathering came together to pay homage to the legendary filmmaker. The legendary director received a befitting farewell with a full state funeral, thus marking the end of his journey that made Tamil films what they are today. While the day was meant to honour his legacy and contributions to filmmaking, a brief family disagreement during the funeral proceedings also drew attention and became a talking point on social media.

Family tensions surface during Bharathiraja’s funeral ceremony

Emotions were running high during the final rites held in Theni. According to Polimer, the family has already been through a difficult period following the loss of Bharathiraja’s son, Manoj Bharathiraja, whose death reportedly left the veteran filmmaker deeply heartbroken. During the funeral ceremony, a tense moment unfolded between Bharathiraja’s daughter and Manoj Bharathiraja’s daughter. It was reported that a discussion between them had gone very emotional to the point of causing obvious discomfort. Everyone there could clearly see that emotions were running high during such a delicate moment.

Raadhika steps in to prevent the situation from escalating

Reportedly, actress Raadhika Sarathkumar, who was also present at the funeral, noticed the discomfort and intervened. Upon seeing the emotional outburst, she went up to them and discussed it. Reports say that she tried to calm the situation down by encouraging everyone to keep their mind on the more important matter. It is said that her sane decision saved the moment from becoming a full-blown controversy.

Raadhika’s calm intervention earns praise online

Video clips and photos from the ceremony have now gone viral on social media, where people have commented extensively about the touching experience. Whereas some felt sorry for the strained relationships among family members during their hard times, others praised Raadhika for handling the situation with poise and dignity. Indeed, grief tends to bring about the expression of strong feelings within families, particularly when faced with several tragedies at once. During this hard situation, the actions taken by Raadhika to maintain unity in the wake of Bharathiraja’s death have been well-received.
