R Parthiban takes a swipe at Trisha and Vijay’s public appearance

‘Kundavai should be kept at home’: Did R Parthiban take a swipe at Vijay and Trisha Krishnan's public appearance?

Actor-filmmaker R Parthiban has sparked a social media buzz with pointed remarks aimed at Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. Following their recent public appearance at a Chennai wedding reception, Parthiban suggested “Kundavai” (Trisha) should stay at home. The controversy deepened on International Women’s Day as Parthiban seemingly countered Vijay’s dismissive comments about his personal allegations.

The Tamil film industry is abuzz with a series of pointed remarks by veteran actor-director R Parthiban on actors Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. The duo recently made headlines by attending a wedding reception together in Chennai, marking their first joint appearance amid personal allegations levied by Vijay’s wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam.

What did Parthiban say?

According to Hindustan Times, at the Galatta Awards, when Parthiban was asked for his thoughts on his ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ co-star Trisha (who played Princess Kundavai), he quipped, “This Kundavai should be kept at home for a few days. That’s good. Don’t let her come out.” The comment quickly went viral, with netizens debating whether the veteran was offering protective advice or taking a judgmental swipe at the actress’s personal life.

Vijay addresses personal ‘issues’ at TVK Women’s Day event

According to News18, during his address at the TVK (Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam) Women’s Day event in Mamallapuram on March 7, 2026, Vijay reassured his supporters regarding the ongoing controversies in his personal life, stating, “Don’t worry about the recent problems surrounding me. Those issues are not worth your time. I will take care of them myself. What hurts me the most is seeing you feel sad or stressed because of my problems. ”

Parthiban’s ‘It’s worth’ post

Parthiban, known for his wordplay and eccentric social media presence, appeared to directly challenge Vijay’s “not worth” stance on Sunday. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to mark International Women’s Day, Parthiban wrote, that translates to:”It’s WORTH! Worth & worth! Because a woman is another EARTH. We call the Earth Bhuma Devi [a feminine deity]. We do not call it ‘Sama Nathan’ by a man’s name. Whoever he may be—even if he is the God of Death [Yama]—it is a woman who gave birth to him. Even if he is Shiva, his power (Shakti) is a woman! Happy WOMEN’S DAY!”Observers were quick to link this post to Vijay’s earlier speech, suggesting Parthiban was highlighting that the dignity and treatment of women in these “issues” are indeed worth the public’s attention.

Samuthirakani’s leaked video adds fuel to the fire

According the the Hindustan Times report, adding another layer to the controversy is a leaked video circulating online featuring actor Samuthirakani in conversation with director Bala. In the clip, Samuthirakani is overheard expressing frustration over a celebrity’s public behavior, saying: “What kind of game is this? When all this is happening, are you taking her out? She should have been kept within four walls… even the party workers don’t agree with this.”While the names of Vijay and Trisha are not explicitly mentioned in the leaked audio, the timing has led netizens to believe the conversation was directed at the the actor’s recent public outing with his ‘Leo’ co-star.The timing of these events is critical, as Vijay is currently transitioning from being a star to a full-time political leader. On the work front, his swansong film, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has been stuck in a release limbo after locking horns with the censor board over certification. Go to Source
