President Droupadi Murmu presented the remaining Padma Awards 2026 recipients with their honours during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 23. The prestigious event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other distinguished guests.Among the prominent awardees was Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty, who received the Padma Bhushan from the President. The veteran actor was joined on the occasion by his wife Sulfath, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan, and daughter Surumi, making it a proud family moment. Renowned playback singer Alka Yagnik was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan. The singer, who has been dealing with a hearing loss disorder in recent years, was escorted to the stage by an usher. Before accepting the award, she greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was seated in the front row, and touched his feet as a mark of respect. A total of 65 Padma Awards were scheduled to be conferred during the second ceremony, recognising outstanding contributions across diverse fields. The list of notable recipients also included actor-filmmaker R Madhavan, who was awarded the Padma Shri, along with Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma. Madhavan shared a moment with PM Modi before he went on stage to accept his Padma Shri. Veteran actor Satish Shah was honoured posthumously for his contribution to Indian cinema and television. The second ceremony followed the first Civil Investiture Ceremony, held on May 26, during which 66 Padma Awards were presented. One of the most emotional moments of that event was the posthumous conferment of the Padma Vibhushan on legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025.
