Priya Kapur claims mother-in-law gets over Rs 21 lakh every month

Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore estate row: Priya Kapur claims mother-in-law gets over Rs 21 lakh every month; dismisses allegations of hiding assets abroad - Reports

The legal fight over Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s estate took a sharp turn as his widow Priya Sachdev Kapur countered the allegations raised by her mother-in-law, Rani Kapur. The Delhi High Court heard the matter on Wednesday, where Priya’s legal team dismissed every charge made against her.

Priya Kapur’s lawyer rejects claims of transfer of estate

As reported by ANI, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, appearing for Priya, opened the hearing by rejecting claims that she had transferred any part of Sunjay Kapur’s estate abroad. “I have filed a detailed list of assets, and every transaction is in the list… No money has been moved abroad,” he told the court, calling the allegations “baseless and reckless”.Nayar said that complete financial papers, corporate filings and sworn documents had already been placed before the court, making it “impossible” for any accusation of concealment to stand. He also said the claims that Sunjay earned an annual salary of Rs 60 crore were incorrect.

Priya Kapur’s lawyer dismisses allegation over Rolex watch

Responding to the allegation that Priya hid a valuable Rolex watch, Nayar said the claim relied only on photos taken from a fake Instagram account named “sunjay.kapur”. He noted that Rani followed the real account, “sunjaykapur”, and therefore knew the images were not genuine. “All assets known to Priya are already on record,” he stressed. The court also reviewed documents linked to company decisions taken soon after Sunjay’s passing. According to Nayar, those steps were based on an email sent from Rani Kapur’s own account on 16 June 2025. He said she later denied sending the message.

Priya Kapur’s lawyer rejects claim about will template

Nayar also denied the allegation that Sunjay’s Will had been drafted using Priya’s Will as a template. He said the structure actually matched Rani Kapur’s own 2024 Will, which had already been filed in court.Closing his arguments, he added, “Judicial proceedings require proof, not speculation. Every allegation collapses once tested against the complete record.”

Rs 21.5 lakh paid monthly to Sunjay Kapur’s mother

As reported by Hindustan Times, Priya’s side also addressed the accusation that she concealed Sunjay’s true wealth. As quoted earlier, Nayar said, “I have filed a detailed list of assets, and every transaction is in the list of assets… No money has been moved abroad.”Nayar added that Rani continues to receive funds from AIPL. According to him, she gets Rs 21.5 lakh every month, “and her personal expenses continue to be paid for exactly as they were when Sunjay was alive”. He ended with, “So much for step-daughterly treatment.”

Karisma Kapoor’s kids challenge the contested will

Once the defence completed its submissions, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani began his arguments for Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan. They have challenged the Will and requested the court to stop Priya from dealing with Sunjay’s assets. His submissions will continue on Thursday.

What is Sunjay Kapur’s estate case about?

Late Sunjay Kapur’s estate, valued at nearly Rs 30,000 crore, is the centre of the dispute. He passed away on 12 June in the UK after collapsing during a polo match. Samaira and Kiaan have accused Priya, Sunjay’s third wife, of presenting a fake Will. Rani Kapur has also accused Priya of taking control of his assets soon after his demise and not fully disclosing the Will. Sunjay was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and they share two children. He married Priya in 2017.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
