'Premalu 2' cancelled? Naslen reveals why the much-awaited sequel did not move forward

‘Premalu’ turned out to be one of the biggest Malayalam success stories in recent times. Directed by Girish AD, the romantic entertainer received a strong response after its theatrical release.Following its impressive run in theatres, the makers had also announced plans for a sequel. Now, a latest update regarding the same, has been unveiled by the lead actor Naslen.

‘Premalu’ became a major success story

‘Premalu’ starred Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles. The film was set against the backdrop of Hyderabad and followed a youthful story that connected with audiences.The movie crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and received appreciation for its performances and storytelling.The cast additionally included Shyam Mohan, Akhila Bhargavan, Sangeeth Prathap, Altaf Salim and Meenakshi Raveendran.

‘Premalu’ sequel faced several delays

Even after the sequel announcement, updates surrounding ‘Premalu 2’ remained limited. Reports regarding delays started appearing over time. Recently, producer Dileesh Pothan also spoke about the project’s status and suggested that the sequel had almost been dropped. Now, Naslen has addressed the matter and explained the situation surrounding the film.

Naslen reveals why the film was stopped

Speaking during an interview with Club FM, Naslen explained the reason behind the decision and revealed that the project could not move ahead because the script did not fully satisfy the team.”Premalu 2 has officially been cancelled. Dileesh ettan has already spoken about it. Due to certain technical reasons, the project did not reach a perfect landing. Maybe it could happen in the future. But as of now, it has been cancelled. The project was stopped because the script did not achieve the required perfection.”

Possibility of future return still exists

Even though the sequel has currently been called off, Naslen’s statement has left room for future possibilities.Meanwhile, Naslen has a number of upcoming projects currently under development.His future lineup reportedly includes ‘Suriya 47’ with director Jithu Madhavan and actor Suriya. He is also attached to Amal Neerad’s ‘Bachelor Party 2’ and ‘Mattancherry Mafia’ directed by Khalid Rahman with Mammootty in the lead role. Go to Source
