Peabo Bryson, a well-known pioneering legend of the R&B and Blues world, has passed away. Bryson had been receiving medical care for the past couple of days after it had been reported that he had suffered a stroke.

Peabo Bryson passes away at 75

USA Today reported that Peabo Bryson passed away at 75 and was surrounded by his family members and loved ones at the time. A statement from his family read, “We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit. His legacy and music will live on for generations to come.”The ‘A Whole New World’ singer had been receiving medical care after Variety reported that he had suffered from a stroke two days ago and had been rushed to the hospital. No other details about his condition were shared with the public.

Who was Peabo Bryson

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on April 13, 1951, Bryson slowly came to be known for his soulful voice and rose to fame as one of the most popular singers of his time. Growing up, he mainly lived on his grandfather’s farm. His affinity for music was there from a young age and was nurtured by his mother, who would often take him and the entire family to concerts of African American artists at the time.His music career began at the mere age of 14, when he started working with a local Greenville band, Al Freeman and the Upsetters. He later toured with another local band, Moses Dillard and the Tex-Town Display. After signing with a label and working with them for years, his own career slowly took off as he started working on his own solo music.Some of his greatest hits of all time include, but are not limited to, ‘Feel the Fire’, ‘A Whole New World’, ‘Reaching For The Sky’, ‘Can You Stop the Rain’, ‘If Ever You’re in My Arms Again’, ‘I Can’t Imagine’, and ‘Crosswinds’. The legendary artist even won 2 Grammy awards in his career. The first time was in 1992, when he performed ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with Celine Dion, and the second in 1993, for ‘A Whole New World’ with Regina Belle.To date, Bryson’s tunes are remembered by music lovers, paying homage to his lasting legacy in the industry.
