Parmeet Sethi revealed his son Ayushmaan almost played Kuljeet in the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge musical. Ayushmaan was shortlisted but missed out due to lack of extensive Western classical singing experience. Parmeet Sethi, widely recognized for his memorable portrayal of Kuljeet in Aditya Chopra’s iconic 1995 film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, revealed that his son Ayushmaan was shortlisted to play the same role in the theatrical musical version of the movie. During a YouTube Live event, Parmeet revealed that Ayushmaan, an aspiring actor, was shortlisted to play the same character in Aditya Chopra’s Broadway adaptation, Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical. On Sunday, during a YouTube Live event celebrating their family channel AAAP Ka Parivaar reaching 1 million subscribers, Parmeet revealed that his younger son, Ayushmaan Sethi, who is also an aspiring actor, had tried out for the part of Kuljeet in the musical Come Fall in Love. In the story, Kuljeet Singh is the fiancé of Simran, the character played by Kajol.“He was shortlisted for the role of Kuljeet in the Broadway adaptation of DDLJ that happened at West End of London. He almost got it,” revealed Parmeet.

Ayushmaan Sethi explains why he didn’t get the role

Joining his parents during the YouTube Live session, Ayushmaan explained why he was not cast for the role. He stated, “They wanted someone who was experienced in Western classical singing for a long time. I have some experience in it, but not as much as they wanted.”
