Param Sundari becomes Janhavi ’s third biggest grosser

‘Param Sundari becomes Janhavi Kapoor’s third biggest grosser beating 'Mr and Mrs Mahi'

Janhvi Kapoor’s career is gaining momentum as her latest film, Param Sundari, performs well at the box office, becoming her third-highest grossing movie with ₹41.6 crore. Despite facing competition from new releases, it surpassed the collection of ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’. Kapoor is now preparing for ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ with Varun Dhawan and ‘Peddi’ with Ram Charan.

Laded with responsibility of living up to her mother Sridevi’s cinematic legacy, actress Janhvi Kapoor is slowly but surely finding a footing for herself at the movies. Her latest release Param Sundari with Sidharth Malhotra has been doing her talking at the box office. The film has now become her third biggest grosser standing just behind Dhadak and Devara – Part 1.The film opened on a positive note with Rs 7.25 crore on its first Friday. Over the weekend, collections picked up strongly, bringing in Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday. This ensured a healthy first weekend of nearly Rs 27 crore, giving the film a solid base. However, the weekday trend proved shaky. Monday saw a steep drop of nearly 68% to Rs 3.25 crore, followed with a spike leading to a collection of Rs 4.25 crore on Tuesday, but the collection dropped again on Wednesday and Thursday where it collected Rs 2.85 crore Rs 2.65 crore on Thursday respectively . By the end of Week 1, Param Sundari had earned Rs 39.75 crore. On its second Friday, the film added another Rs 1.85 crore (early estimates)taking its total to Rs 41.6 crore. The film faced stiff competition from new releases like The Conjuring: Last Rites and Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4. Both films opened in double figures at the box office. But the film has crossed the numbers of Janhvi’s last year release Mr and MRs Mahi which had collected Rs 36.34 crore. Here’s how her top films stand at the moment:

  1. Dhadak – Rs 74.19 crore
  2. Devara – Part 1 – Rs 62.12 crore
  3. Param Sundari – Rs 41.6 crore (and counting)
  4. Mr. & Mrs. Mahi – Rs 36.34 crore

Janhvi is now gearing up for her biggest Hindi film which is Karan Johar backed Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari where she is paired opposite her Bawaal actor Varun Dhawan. The film directed by Shashank Khaitaan is said to be the spiritual sequel to his past two films Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Its teaser and the first song Bijuria has set the right tone for the film’s release on 2nd October. Besides this she also has Peddi with Ram Charan, the shooting of the film had stopped for a few days in Mumbai because of passing of Allu Arjun’s grandmother and Ra Charan rushing back home to be with the family.
