Olivia Wilde on outrage over her age gap with Harry Styles – WATCH

Olivia Wilde opens up about public backlash over 10-year age gap in relationship with Harry Styles

Filmmaker and actress Olivia Wilde is looking back on the intense public scrutiny surrounding her relationship with singer Harry Styles. The actress dated Styles, while working on their film ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ which released in 2022. Looking back at their romance, the star reflected on the uproar and fan reactions to the romance.

Olivia Wilde on romance with Harry Styles

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast with host Alex Cooper, Wilde addressed the criticism that came with her romance, including discussions surrounding their 10-year age gap. She also addressed the press tour with her cast that drew criticism over an alleged rift between the lead stars and their director. Sharing her thoughts about the same, she said, “There was all this public madness, but my private life was very far from it,” Wilde said about the press tour. “And very, actually kind of wholesome and sweet. I had a lot of like real joy and love and happiness during that time. It was like the tornado was right outside the door and if you were inside, you were like, ‘It’s so nice,’ and then you’d open the door and a fucking like cow and a tractor would fly by.”

Olivia Wilde on fan reaction to romance

Opening up about falling in love with Harry, during the making of the movie, she said, “people were f*****g pissed” that she was dating Styles. Reflecting on the romance, she said, “I think that it also had a lot to do with the kind of parasocial relationship people had with, have with him, which is a burden that is very weighty and not something I envy and he carries it with grace. I think that is an enormous responsibility that all those stars have to carry that’s f*****g impossible.”

Olivia Wilde on her ‘lovely’ time with Harry Styles

Admitting that she didn’t understand the fan uproar over the romance, she admitted that her romance with the pop star was the “loveliest relationship” and “so sweet and so beautiful and really, actually, very domestic and kind and lovely.”She said, “I think that we existed in this, like, little bubble and the judgment never really got into that bubble, which was a miracle and testament to us making that happen. I think that people were mad. It’s almost like the happiness made them mad.”Sharing why she thought fans were ‘mad’ about the romance, she said, “I think that people were mad. It’s almost like the happiness made them mad. I would go to shows and dance, and people were like, ‘You s**t! How dare you dance and smile?’ It really did upset people, though.”Wilde and Styles began dating after working together on the 2022 psychological thriller. The couple split after months of dating, with Harry now rumoured to be engaged to actress Zoe Kravitz. Go to Source
