Now Zahara files legal request to DROP ‘Pitt’ surname

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Zahara files legal request to DROP 'Pitt' from surname; set to appear before judge in September

In the ongoing family dispute between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the couple’s daughter, Zahara, has now become the latest child to take formal steps to remove “Pitt” from her surname. As per the latest report, the 21-year-old has now filed legal documents to officially change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie, TMZ reports. According to court records obtained by Insider, Zahara submitted the paperwork on April 28, but has not specified a reason for the requested name change. However, she is expected to appear before a judge on September 28 to explain the reason for her request. While Zahara is only now changing her name legally, she has been publicly using the surname ‘Jolie’ for quite some time. She not only made waves online when she joined a sorority at Spelman College, as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” but she also notably omitted ‘Pitt’ from her name while receiving her college degree just last month. Videos from the ceremony saw the Psychology major accepting her degree under the name ‘Zahara Marley Jolie’ amid huge cheers from her class members. The move also comes at a time when reports have suggested that Zahara has not maintained a close relationship with her father in recent years. Other reports have suggested that Pitt believes his former wife, Angelina, has played a role in limiting his relationship with their children.Pitt and Jolie share six children together. Of the six, Shiloh Jolie was among the first to take the legal route to drop ‘Pitt’ from her surname. Her siblings, including Vivienne and Maddox, reportedly no longer use ‘Pitt’ as part of their surname, while the status of Pax and Knox remain unclear.
