Twitch streamer Mitch Jones is at the center of a fresh controversy, but this time it isn’t because of gambling or streamer drama. Instead, it revolves around one of the biggest TV game shows ever made. Days after hosting his own real-life version of Deal or No Deal, Mitch revealed on stream that he had received a cease and desist from the people behind the official show. The event itself was built to look and feel like the TV series. It featured physical briefcases, banker offers, cash prizes, and a full game-show presentation with fellow streamers Sodapoppin and Nmplol taking part. While viewers praised the production quality, the similarities apparently caught the attention of the show’s rights holders, leading to legal action before any lawsuit had even been filed.
Mitch Jones recreated Deal or No Deal with real money and streamers
On July 26, 2026, Mitch Jones hosted what he called a real-life version of Deal or No Deal on Twitch. The stream wasn’t a simple parody or challenge. It used a custom-built set with numbered cases, prize values ranging from a penny to $200,000 in each round, and banker-style negotiations that closely mirrored the television format. Mitch also promoted the event across X before going live, promising giveaways for viewers. According to the stream, he funded a total prize pool of $500,000 for contestants and chat rewards. Nmplol walked away with $100,000, while other participants also won notable cash prizes throughout the broadcast.
A cease and desist arrived just days after the broadcast
Roughly three days after the stream, Mitch told viewers that he had received a cease and desist from the official Deal or No Deal production. Speaking on stream, he said, “I got a cease and desist… They want MONEY, bro… We’ll figure it out, I got LAWYERs.”The letter reportedly demanded money over the unauthorized recreation of the show’s format. Around the same time, drama account @ChumBucketDrama shared a compilation comparing Mitch’s production with footage from the official game show, bringing more attention to how closely the two versions matched.
No lawsuit has been reported, but the dispute is still unresolved
The original Deal or No Deal debuted in 2005 with Howie Mandel as host and has continued through several revivals and spin-offs, including Deal or No Deal Island. As of July 30, there has been no report of an actual lawsuit or any public resolution between Mitch Jones and the production behind the show.Even after receiving the cease and desist, Mitch mentioned that he still wanted to create more real-life game shows in the future.
