Nikitin Dheer defends Dhurandhar amid propaganda row

Nikitin Dheer defends Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar amid propaganda row, 'May we not be misled by pseudo-intellectuals'; Aditya Dhar responds

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has continued its strong box office run since its December 5 release, crossing Rs 350 crore despite facing sharp criticism over its alleged political messaging. While the film has sparked polarising reactions online and in public discourse, it has also found vocal support from members of the film industry. Nikitin Dheer, son of late Pankaj Dheer, has now stepped in to defend the film, calling out the narratives built around it even before its release.

‘Declared a flop even before it hit theatres’

Sharing a video review of Dhurandhar on Instagram, Nikitin Dheer praised the film’s craft and intent, lauding its cinematography, background score and performances. He also applauded director Aditya Dhar for his vision.“Dhurandhar has united the audience because, before its release, there was a strange narrative declaring it a flop even before it hit theatres. The people who pushed that narrative disappeared once the film started working,” Nikitin said. The actor went on to argue that films like Dhurandhar serve a larger purpose and should continue to be made.“I believe more such films should be made, films that make you feel proud and even provoke anger. If you read India’s geopolitical past, you will realise how accurate and important this film is. I hope that it breaks barriers, Rs 500 crore to Rs 800 crore,” he added.

‘Bollywood is alive and thriving’

In the caption to his post, Nikitin took aim at what he described as false narratives surrounding the film’s release and success.“People usually hate what they can’t control. Dhurandhar has demolished every hurdle in its path, shown the truth in the most cinematically beautiful way, destroyed false narratives and proved that Bollywood is alive and thriving,” he wrote, adding that the film’s impact made him proud to be part of the industry.Concluding his note, Nikitin underlined the larger sentiment he believed the film stood for. “More power to such filmmakers, and hats off once again to all the technicians and actors associated with the film. May we see things for what they truly are, may we not be misled by pseudo-intellectuals and their flowery words, and may we remain united in our love and dedication towards our country. The real heroes are our soldiers, who dedicate their entire lives to the nation,” he stated.

Aditya Dhar responds

Director Aditya Dhar responded to Nikitin’s post, thanking him for his support. “Such a well-put thought! Thank you so much, Nikitin sir. Lots of love!” he wrote. Along with Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar also features Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R. Madhavan in pivotal roles. Go to Source
