Nick Jonas says Hindi film music inspires him

Nick Jonas praises Hindi film music and calls it a huge inspiration: “I’ve just opened up my mind”

During a lively conversation, Nick Jonas shed light on his profound love for Hindi film music, emphasizing its captivating mix of rhythmic tunes and immersive storytelling. He finds joy in how songs elevate film scenes to iconic status. In addition, he revealed that Priyanka Chopra is on the verge of finishing a thrilling major project with the esteemed filmmaker S.

Nick Jonas is diving deeper into the sounds that have shaped his family life. During a recent interview, the performer spoke warmly about discovering Hindi film music, sharing it with his brothers, and learning from a style that blends melody, cinema, and spectacle. He said the craft behind those songs continues to influence how he thinks about songwriting.

Nick Jonas on Hindi music inspiration

On The Zach Sang Show, Nick Jonas praised how many well-known tracks emerge from memorable movie moments. He said he admires the teamwork between playback singers, actors, and composers.“Melodies are just so incredible. It’s actually a scale that, you know, we’re not as familiar with over here,” he said. “But it’s a beautiful musical scale that allows for even some notes that, like, I’ve just opened up my mind.”“And the thing I love about Hindi music and, you know, music from Southeast Asia, is that a lot of times — not all, but a lot of times — the music comes from a film and becomes famous because of the scene in which the song appears,” he explained. “So often it’s the actors on screen lip-syncing to someone else’s voice.”He added, “There are these composers who specialise in making songs that sound like big, exciting hits but also work really well cinematically. And that’s something that’s so inspiring to me. There’s just so much great music in Indian cinema and in India in general.”

Priyanka Chopra–Rajamouli film update

Jonas compared the approach to his early work on projects such as television musicals. Still, he noted that Indian films treat big song sequences in a unique way.“What I like about these scenes in Indian movies is that they’re not always directly tied to a narrative thread in the film,” he said. “They can just sort of be an item song. It’s just a big, exciting moment. That’s cool.”He said he loves how audiences respond: “In theatres, you have people dancing and singing, and it becomes a real celebration. And if you’ve ever been to an Indian wedding, it’s so much fun.”Jonas also shared an update from home. Priyanka Chopra has been filming a new South Indian project with S. S. Rajamouli, the director of RRR.“Priyanka’s been shooting one for the last, like, 14 months on and off,” he said. “This is his next big film. It’s going to be incredible.” Go to Source
