Naga Chaitanya never tried to re-create this scene from Shiva

Naga Chaitanya never even tried to re-create his father Nagarjuna’s iconic chain breaking scene from 'Shiva'

Nagarjuna’s iconic film ‘Shiva’ is set for a grand re-release, sparking nostalgia. Its impact on Telugu cinema and stars like Mahesh Babu and Prabhas is highlighted. Naga Chaitanya, Nagarjuna’s son, humorously shares that he never attempted the film’s famous bicycle chain stunt, admitting his father’s enduring stardom often overshadows his own work. The legacy of ‘Shiva’ continues to resonate.

As the iconic Nagarjuna-starrer Shiva, directed by Ram Gopal Varma gears up for a grand re-release on 14th November, on the occasion of the production house completing 50 years in the business , nostalgia has swept across Telugu cinema audiences. The trailer of the film has many stars of Telugu Cinema like Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, SS Rajamouli etc sharing their thoughts on how the film impacted them and how it changed cinema not only for them but also for Telugu Cinema. The film had turned Nagarjuna into a youth icon overnight. One of the iconic scenes from the film is an action sequence wherein Nagarjuna yanks off the chain from a bicycle and uses it as a weapon against his attackers. There are numerous stories about kids who have tried to repeat the act but have failed. And now in an exclusive interview with ETimes, Nagarjuna’s son and well established actor Naga Chaitanya share that he never attempted that act.During the conversation he said , “ No, I didn’t try that. I was too young when the film came out ”. Shiva was originally released in 1989 and then it was remade in 1990 in Hindi. Naga Chaitanya was little less than 3 years old when the film came out. Chaitanya then shared a candid and humorous insight about being the son of a superstar whose stardom transcends generations. “Whenever someone walks up to me, I always think they’re coming to appreciate or talk about my work. But most of the time, it turns out they actually want to talk about my father,” he admitted with a smile. He went on to add that even when he and Nagarjuna are together in public, there’s a noticeable pattern. “A lot of women come and ask for a picture, but they want one with my dad, not me,” he said, laughing good-naturedly. As Shiva returns to theatres, this legacy feels more alive than ever.Naga Chaitanya was last in Thandel with Sai Pallavi and his next film is with director Karthik Dandu and has Meenakshi Chaudhary paired opposite him. The film for now is being referred to as NC 24.
