‘My Lord’ box office collections day 2: The film reaches Rs 77 Lakhs

'My Lord' box office collections day 2: M. Sasikumar film reaches Rs 77 Lakhs; Stronger Saturday growth

The Tamil drama starring M. Sasikumar has maintained a steady start at the box office. After earning Rs 35 lakhs India net on its opening day, My Lord collected Rs 42 lakhs India net on Day 2, according to Sacnilk. This brings the film’s two-day total to Rs 77 lakhs. The Saturday uptick is a positive sign for the film.

Occupancy trends

Tamil Nadu occupancy numbers for Saturday show a clear rise through the day. Morning shows reported 8.43%, while afternoon occupancy climbed to 18.92%. Evening shows dipped slightly to 14.78%, and night shows peaked at 21.23%.

ETimes review

The film is directed by Raju Murugan and ‘My Lord’ features a notable cast including M. Sasikumar, Chaithra Achar, Asha Sharath, and Guru Somasundaram. The ETimes review offered a balanced critique of the film’s strengths and weaknesses, “The satirical instincts work more often than not. A few dialogues genuinely sting, and Sean Roldan’s score does smart, understated work. Raju Murugan gets real mileage out of showing how casually power treats people as disposable, and the premise stays engaging for the most part.” However, it also pointed out major shortcomings. The review further stated, “But nobody in this film feels like a person. They feel like chess pieces. A cop working for the minister poses as a Tirupur businessman to get close to Muthu, a role practically begging for some grey. The film doesn’t care.” It added that emotional beats feel repetitive. “The minister’s two kids each deliver near-identical bedside speeches of devotion, back to back, like the script hit copy-paste on the emotion.” The critique concluded that the pacing and humour at times overextend. “Gags that start sharp get milked a beat too long. Everything moves, but nothing breathes.”Till now, ‘My Lord’ has performed decently at the box office. Occupancy rates in the next few days will determine it’s box office status.
