‘Sholay’

‘Sholay’ is perhaps one of the actors’ most well-known and finest films of all time. The premise of the film follows the story of a former police officer, who seeks vengeance after his family is murdered by a well-known criminal. He seeks the help of two outlaws, Jai (Amitabh Bachachan) and Veeru (Dharmendra), who then went on to become one of the most iconic duo of all time. ‘The Burning Train’

‘The Burning Train’ is another iconic and classic number from the veteran actor. The 1980 crime-thriller stars Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Hema Malini and Jeetendra in titular roles. The premise of the story is based on Vinod, a railway engineer who starts his own railway with the aim to make it the fastest one to operate in the country. The train’s first journey turns deadly after it is revealed that a rival has planted a bomb on the moving vehicle. Fans can watch the film on Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar, as well as YouTube.

‘Apne’

‘Apne’ is an iconic film from Dharmendra, not only because of the story, but because of the fact that the loving father starred alongside his sons, Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol. The story follows a veteran boxer who was never able to fulfill his dream in the ring. When his youngest son tries to carry the legacy forward, he is gravely injured in the fight. ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’

Starring alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is one of the veteran actor’s most latest works. The story follows Rocky and Rani as the two polar opposite people fall in love in the unlikeliest of situations. Things turn sour after Rocky’s rich Punjabi family and Rani’s artistic and down to earch Bengali family just cannot seem to get along. Dharmendra played the role of Ricky’s grandfather in the film. What made this role iconic was his romance with Rani’s grandmother (played by Shabana Azmi) and their shared kiss on screen which made headlines. ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’

Dharmendra starred in the 2024 film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ alongside Kirti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor, which later became a big box office hit. The premise follows a robotics engineer, Aryan Agnihotri, who meets SIFRA, an AI synthetic robot in Los Angelas made by his aunt, and ends up falling in love with her unknowingly. He returns to India and agrees to an arranged marriage after finding out who she is, but later follows his heart and brings SIFRA home to meet his family. The film is available on Amazon Prime Video.

‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’

This 2011 comedy release is another loved project from the veteran actor. Following the father and sons trio, the film shows how Paramveer Singh Dhillon, a Canadian Indian travels back to India in order to find his father and brother. What he comes across shocks him to the core and sends him down a questinaoble lane as he finds that both are renowned thieves. He travels back to Punjab with them and getrs mixed up with criminal activity as their past comes back to haunt them.
