‘Mollywood Times’ OTT release CONFIRMED: When and where to watch Naslen’s film online

Naslen’s ‘Mollywood Times’ is all set to make its digital debut after completing its theatrical run.Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, the coming-of-age drama was released in cinemas on June 5 this year and received good reviews from the audiences. Viewers who missed the film on the big screen will soon get an opportunity to watch it from the comfort of their homes.

Where to stream ‘Mollywood Times’

The makers have officially confirmed that Mollywood Times will begin streaming on JioHotstar from July 3, 2026. Sharing the announcement on social media, the team described the film as “A love-hate letter to Malayalam cinema.”The film centres on Vineeth Madhavan, played by Naslen. Since childhood, Vineeth has dreamed of becoming one of the youngest and most celebrated directors in the Malayalam film industry. His passion lies in creating horror films that are by intense storytelling and strong technical execution. However the path to achieving that dream is far from easy. Director Abhinav Sunder Nayak explores the difficulties faced by newcomers in the film industry.

Film began with a decent box office opening

‘Mollywood Times’ registered a respectable opening when it arrived in theatres. According to Sacnilk estimates, the film earned Rs 1.80 crore net in India on its opening day. The collection came from 954 shows across the country. The Day 1 performance took the India gross collection to Rs 2.09 crore. Since it was the opening day, the overall India net collection also stood at Rs 1.80 crore.

ETimes verdict for ‘Mollywood Times’

Reviewing the film, ETimes wrote, “Abhinav, who co-wrote it with Ramu Sunil, gives a refreshingly real take on the struggles in life. Refreshing because, while it could have easily slipped into bleakness, the writers keep the narrative upbeat and the hero never considers giving up on his dreams or really compromising on his principles. So the ideas are compelling, but the storytelling begins to feel muddled, particularly in the second half. The several hurdles that come in the way of Vineeth’s dreams are solely from Mollywood’s peculiar manner of functioning and it gets tiresome. The bits on SC/ST privilege feel surprisingly tone deaf and needless.”With its OTT premiere now confirmed, ‘Mollywood Times’ is set to reach a wider audience and is expected to gain a cult fan base just like Abhinav’s previous film ‘Mukundan Unni Associates’.
