Mithun Chakraborty has always marched to the beat of his own drum—whether it’s avoiding Bollywood’s glitzy parties or juggling a record number of films in a single year. In a candid conversation, the veteran star opened up about his choices, his work ethic, and the projects that still keep him excited.

Prefers family time over parties

Speaking to IANS, Chakraborty said he prefers spending his time with family, plants, and pets. Mithun Chakraborty said he has never been fond of attending parties or film award functions, as they mostly involve gossip, which he avoids. Since he also quit drinking, he feels out of place at such gatherings. Instead, he enjoys spending time with his family, pets, plants, and cooking.

He was also asked what kept him motivated to work on so many films, especially in an era when most actors chose to do only a few projects each year.

Quick decision-making with scripts

Reacting to this, the veteran actor said he never understood how others managed to do just one film at a time. He explained that after reading a script’s basic line, he could gauge the entire story and decide whether to take up the project, without needing repeated readings. Mithun added that now he only takes up films that truly excite him. He mentioned working with Prabhas in Fauji, a patriotic family drama, along with Jailer 2 with Rajinikanth and Prajapati 2. For him, taking on such diverse projects feels effortless and enjoyable.
