‘Masti 4’ box office collection day 1

'Masti 4' box office collection day 1: The Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani starrer has a slow start, makes Rs 2.50 crore

Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh starrer ‘Masti 4’ released on Friday, November 21. The film clashed with Farhan Akhtar’s ‘120 Bahadur’. Both these movies were extremely dull in their advance bookings. ‘Masti 4’ is a franchise film which should have garnered more footfalls. While ‘Masti’ and ‘Grand Masti’ enjoyed success, ‘Great Grand Masti’ faltered badly. Still, the team behind the franchise hopes to revive both the brand and its signature style with this new instalment, expecting “entry to step in.”But the film opened average at the box office. It has made Rs 2.50 crore on Friday, day 1, according to Sacnilk and had a slight edge over ‘120 Bahadur’ which made Rs 2.35 crore. Both the movies will strongly depend on word of mouth for growth over the first weekend. There is more word of mouth for ‘120 Bahadur’ but this Farhan Akhtar movie may do better in multiplexes while ‘Masti 4’ may bring in audiences in the mass centres. Largely, these films will depend on the spot bookings. The weekend will play a huge role in deciding the fate of these films. Interestingly, despite now entering its second week at the box office and new releases, ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is still holding well. It made the same number on its day 8 which ‘Masti 4’ and ‘120 Bahadur’ made on their day 1. The Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R MAdhavan starrer made Rs 2.25 crore on Friday.
