Margot Robbie stuns in 100 carat diamonds at 'Wuthering Heights' Paris premiere after Taj Mahal necklace controversy

Margot Robbie made quite the fashion statement on the red carpet of the Paris premiere of ‘Wuthering Heights’. The actress, who plays the leading role in the upcoming adaptation, topped off her previous look with a custom gown and brilliant 100-carat diamonds. Margot Robbie wears 100 carat diamonds to film premiereMargot had all eyes on her as she hit the red carpet in a red and white velvet Chanel ballgown, a nod to the film’s gothic-inspired theme. Shaking off the controversy she kicked up over the ‘Taj Mahal diamond’, she opted for a stunning diamond red velvet choker and a matching oversized ring. About the diamondsAccording to the jeweller, the necklace featured approximately 85 carats of diamonds, with a pear-shaped pendant suspended below. She topped the look off with a diamond ring that weighed in at 15 carats. Leting her dramatic gown and dazzling jewels do all talking, Robbie wore her hair down and kept her makeup minimal. Margot Robbie creates buzz over Taj Mahal necklaceThe Paris premiere follows the film’s grand New York Premiere, wherer the actress evoked old-world romance by wearing a loaned Cartier piece – the historic Taj Mahal necklace, last owned by Hollywood legend, Elizabeth Taylor. However, the choice sparked criticism online, over the actress allegedly crediting Taylor as the last owner, and not commenting about the jewel’s Indian and Mughal heritage. South East Asians took to social media to slam the star for not mentioning that the diamond necklace was originally gifted to Mughal Empress Nur Jahan by Emperor Jahangir, and was also passed on to their son Shah Jahan, who then gifted it to his wife Mumtaz Mahal, in whose memory he built the Taj Mahal. The diamond featured an inscription bearing Nur Jahan’s name, her title “Lady of the Padshah,” and year 1627–28 AD.’Wuthering Heights’ that also stars Jacob Elordi, hits theatres in time for the Valentine’s day weekend, February 13.
