Veteran actor Mammootty has arrived in New Delhi ahead of the second phase of the Civil Investiture Ceremony for the Padma Awards 2026. The prestigious event is scheduled to take place at Rashtrapati Bhavan.The acclaimed Malayalam superstar is set to receive the Padma Bhushan which is one of India’s highest civilian honours.

Family joins actor in special moment

Mammootty was accompanied by his wife Sulfath, daughter Surumi, and son Dulquer Salmaan.The Padma Bhushan is being awarded to Mammootty for his long-standing contribution to Indian cinema and the arts.

Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23

As reported by Asianet News, the award will be presented during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony for the Padma Awards 2026. The event is scheduled to be held on June 23, 2026, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.President Droupadi Murmu is expected to confer the honour during the official ceremony.Over the years he has received several prestigious honours, including the Padma Shri in 1998 and multiple National Film Awards for Best Actor. This year’s Padma Awards list also includes celebrated names such as R. Madhavan and Alka Yagnik, who are being honoured for their contributions in their respective fields.

Mammootty’s work front

With a career spanning over five decades, Mammootty has appeared in more than 400 films across multiple languages. His most recent film was the actioner ‘Patriot’ where he shared screenspace with Mohanlal after a long gap. The spy action flick was directed by Mahesh Narayanan and it received good reviews from the audiences. ‘Patriot’ is currently streaming on OTT and it also features the actors Nayanthara, Revathy, Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, and Darshana Rajendran in pivotal roles.Up next, Mammootty will be seen in the Adoor Gopalakrishnan film ‘Padayathra’.
