A man seen crying while meeting Imtiaz Ali and Vedang Raina at a ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ screening was accused of being paid for promotion. Dushyant Arora, a lawyer, denied the claims and revealed he had recently lost his grandmother to Alzheimer’s, the same condition depicted in the film.

Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ has moved many viewers to tears, with several videos of emotional audiences going viral on social media. However, one particular clip sparked controversy, showing a man crying while meeting director Imtiaz Ali and actor Vedang Raina. A clip that recently made its way onto social media showed a man breaking down in tears after watching the film and meeting Imtiaz and Vedang. The video quickly triggered an online debate, with many users questioning whether the man had been deliberately planted by the film’s PR team to generate buzz. Adding fuel to the fire, some viewers pointed out that Vedang seemed to be laughing in the background while the man was visibly emotional, which only intensified the speculation.

Responds to claims of being paid to cry at ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ screening

Setting the record straight, the man seen in the viral video took to X to deny any such claims of being paid. Dushyant Arora, who identified himself as a lawyer and columnist, responded directly to one of the widely shared videos with the caption, “First, Vedang Raina’s PR team hires a guy and tells him to go to the director and actors, crying at the end of the movie. But after seeing his overacting, Vedang can’t control his laugh and starts laughing. Watch this hilarious clip.”Hitting back at the claims, Dushyant took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “I’m the guy. Not hired. And Vedang was also moved and in tears.”When a social media user mockingly questioned Dushyant with, “Kaun mar gaya tha waise? (Who died),” he responded with a deeply personal revelation. Dushyant wrote, “Meri dadi. Jaise film mein grandparent ko Alzheimer’s hai, waise hi meri dadi ko bhi tha. Ek mahina hua mushkil se… Shukriya. Main jaanta hun aap kataaksh kar rahe the. Par koi nahin (My grandmother. Like the grandparent in the movie has Alzheimer’s, my grandmother had it too. It’s barely been a month. Thank you. I know you were being sarcastic. But no worries).”
