'Maharashtra has truly been my karma bhoomi': Akshay Kumar shares heartfelt message on Maharashtra Day 2026

On Maharashtra Day, celebrated on May 1, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar shared a heartfelt tribute to the state he calls home, expressing gratitude, pride, and a deep personal connection to Maharashtra and its people.

Akshay Kumar, currently hosting the quiz reality show ‘Wheel of Fortune’, opened up about what Maharashtra means to him. Reflecting on his experience on the show, the actor said, “Hosting ‘Wheel of Fortune’ has given me the chance to meet people from across Maharashtra, each carrying their own hopes and determination. Maharashtra has truly been my karma bhoomi ( Maharashtra is the land where I fulfill my duties) , and I feel grateful for everything it has given me.”He added, “As a host, I feel a responsibility to honor that through patience, respect, and sincerity. It makes me proud that the show has become a space where everyday people can step forward and be celebrated. Maharashtra Day, for me, reflects that shared spirit that keeps the state moving forward together.”

Akshay Kumar’s deep bond with Maharashtra

Born into a Punjabi family, Akshay Kumar has been a resident of Maharashtra for over three decades. He speaks fluent Marathi and has often been seen conversing naturally in the language, reflecting how deeply he has embraced the state as his own. Over the years, Akshay has spoken candidly about his humble beginnings in Mumbai and how hard work, determination, and resilience helped him rise from modest means to owning multiple homes in the city.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in ‘Bhooth Bangla’, alongside Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jeeshu Sengupta, and the late veteran actor Asrani. Released on April 17, 2026, the film has crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide at the box office. He is now gearing up for his next big release, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, which features a large ensemble cast and has generated considerable excitement among fans.
