Madonna says years of dancing left her with 'no cartilage' in her knee: 'Up until a year ago, I was jumping on trampolines'

Madonna has admitted that her iconic high-heeled career has caused her physical problems. The 67-year-old icon recently discussed her fitness regimen and the adjustments she’s been forced to make due to knee damage sustained over decades of dancing.Speaking to Interview Magazine, Madonna was candid about the wear and tear her body has endured throughout her career. The Queen of Pop explained that she no longer works out every day because of deterioration in her knee joint, a condition she directly attributes to the demands of her profession and training practices.

Madonna’s knee injury and its origins

“I have a bad knee now. I have no cartilage in it, thanks to dancing for so long in high heels and running on pavement and doing Ashtanga yoga,” Madonna told the publication. She went on to explain that until relatively recently, she had maintained an intense fitness routine that placed considerable strain on her joints.”Up until a year ago, I was jumping on trampolines and doing dance cardio and doing a lot of what a doctor would call loading on my joints,” she said. “Can’t do that anymore.”Despite the injury, Madonna has continued to prioritise her physical health and fitness, though with modifications designed to protect her compromised knee.

<p> The “Vogue” singer explained that her current workout routine focuses on lower-impact activities that avoid placing excessive stress on her damaged joint. “So now I do Peloton bikes and the Versa Climber and high-intensity circuit training,” she said. “I ride my bike outside a lot. I dance.”An interesting detail emerged regarding Madonna’s approach to maintaining motivation during her workouts. She revealed that she accompanies her exercise sessions by listening to her recent album ‘Confessions II’ describing the music as “relentless” and something that “keeps your f—ing body moving.” </p>

</p>
<p> The singer has been transparent about her physical challenges in the past, allowing her fans to understand the impact of sustained performance on her physical condition. In October 2019, Madonna was forced to postpone a performance of her Madame X show that had been scheduled at a Brooklyn venue. She addressed the cancellation directly with her audience through social media.”Its Hard for Madame to admit that she is also a human being made of flesh and blood, and she must rest for the next 3 days to insure full recovery for her knee,” she wrote. “I am not a quitter. This hurts me more than you can imagine. It’s time to take those heels and fishnets off for a few days!” </p>

<p> Just a month later, Madonna was forced to cancel three additional shows per medical orders. “Please forgive this unexpected turn of events. Doing my show every night brings me so much joy, and to cancel is a kind of punishment for me,” she said at the time. She added that the physical pain she was experiencing required rest and professional medical guidance.”The pain I’m in right now is overwhelming, and I must rest and follow the doctor’s orders so I can come back stronger and better and continue the Madame journey with all of you,” she explained. </p>
<p><h2> Madonna’s ongoing recovery and rehabilitation</h2>
</p>
<p> While Madonna did not initially specify the exact nature of her pain during the 2019 cancellations, she subsequently shared details of her recovery process on social media. The ‘Like a Prayer’ singer posted images showing her “usual Ice Bath for multiple injuries” and expressed gratitude to her supporters, referring to them as her “gang-gang” for serving as her “hype squad.”Over the span of many decades in her career, Madonna has danced iconic songs such as ‘Material Girl’, ‘Express Yourself’, ‘Frozen’, ‘Ray of Light’, and many other hits that needed extreme dancing and running in tight shoes. In recent remarks about her knee injury, she offers an indication of what it takes to maintain her status as a legend in the music industry while still performing at the level she has achieved. <a href=Go to Source
