Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra scores just Rs 35 lakh from Hindi version

Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra’ scores just Rs 35 lakh from Hindi version in 2 days

Dulquer Salmaan’s production, Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra, gains attention. The film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan. It earns Rs 62.5 crore across languages. Malayalam version contributes significantly. The film expands to Telugu and Tamil after its Malayalam release. Hindi version struggles after a week. Southern versions perform well. The film is part of a five-part series. It features Naslen and Tovino Thomas.

Already having cemented his position as one of the most exciting actors in the country, Dulquer Salmaan is setting his sights on giving a new and unique story to the world as a producer. His latest release Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra starring Kalyani Priyadarshan has been getting a lot of attention and critical box office collection. The film which released on 28th August has already minted Rs 62.5 across languages with Malayalam being the engine contributing Rs 48.45 crore to the total collection. The film first exclusively opened only in Malayalam language and on second day it was released in Telugu and on the third day was released in Tamil. The response was so overwhelming that it prompted makers to also add a Hindi release for the film. The film was eventually released in Hindi on 4th September , one full week after its original release. But it seems the film is struggling to find a footing in the Hindi market, based on two days collection the film has managed to earn only Rs 35 lakh, where when it opened in Telugu it’s day one collection was Rs 35 lakh and in Tamil it was Rs 60 lakh. As of now Tamil version has contributed Rs 5.65 crore and Telugu version has contributed Rs 7.95 crore. The distinction between southern languages and Hindi language showcases the limitations of certain south based stories for Hindi speaking audiences. But it would be interesting to see if the film picks up over the weekend. The film is a part of 5 installment series with Chandra setting up the stage for a Universe to unfold in years to come. The film also features established names like Naslen and Tovino Thomas in key roles. And going by the push in southern languages one can expect the film to cross Rs 100 crore mark in weeks to come.
