Lily Allen’s lyrics imply ‘open marriage’ with David Harbour

Did 'Stranger Things' star David Harbour CHEAT on Lily Allen? 'West End Girl' lyrics implies 'open marriage', 'secret pregnancy' and more

Singer-songwriter Lily Allen’s marriage to ‘Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour is back in the headlines following her shocking claims in her newly released album ‘West End Girl’. The singer has social media abuzz over the lyrics of her songs that imply that she and her husband had an ‘arrangement’ for an open marriage and how things eventually went south.

About the new album

The 14-track record, which was released on Friday, features lyrics that many are interpreting as direct references to infidelity, betrayal and emotional trauma in their 4-year marriage. While Allen never mentions Harbour by name, nor mentions his alleged lovers, her songs give details about their ‘arrangement’ and eventual emotional fallout when her partner violated their agreement.

Lily’s shocking allegations in her songs

In the song ‘Dallas Major’, Allen sings about being “open” when her partner “went astray.”However, in the song, ‘Madeline’, she goes on to detail, ‘We had an arrangement / Be discreet and don’t be blatant / There had to be payment / It had to be with strangers / But you’re not a stranger, Madeline.’Although the woman in question is not named ‘Madeline’, fans online have speculated that the person may have been someone Harbour met on the film sets. Rumours are rife that he could have even had a romance with a ‘Stranger Things’ star, considering that Allen refers to the word “stranger” several times in the album. In ‘P–sy Palace’, the singer even details discovering her partner’s “double life.” From alleging that she found his stash of sex toys to lubricant and “hundreds” of condoms, she asks, “How did I get caught up in your double life?”Meanwhile, in ‘4chan Stan’, she even wonders if he was involved with someone famous, while singing of a luxury bag that her partner purchased from Bergdorf Goodman. She sings, ‘You took someone shopping there in May 24… You bought her a handbag, it wasn’t cheap / I was in London, probably asleep.”Why won’t you tell me what her name is? This is outrageous / What, is she famous?’The song ‘Tennis’ also raised eyebrows over Allen confronting her partner about the flings and asking if it was “just sex, or is there emotion?”

Hints at secret pregnancy

In another shocking lyrical moment, she raises the possibility of a secret pregnancy, asking, ‘Why are we here talking about vasectomies? Did you get someone pregnant? Someone who wasn’t me? Did you take her to the clinic? Did you hold her hand? Is she having your baby?’

Lily admits songs were inspired by her relationship

Allen and Harbour separated in 2024. The news of their split went public with the singer filed for divorce and checked herself into a trauma treatment centre in January 2025. Speaking to Vogue this week, the singer said the album was “inspired by what went on in the relationship.” However, she also cautioned listeners saying, “There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage. But that’s not to say that it’s all gospel.” Go to Source
