Kishore’s son NEVER questioned his father’s 4 marriages

Throwback: Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar NEVER questioned his father’s 4 marriages; ‘He was not destined to have..’

Kishore Kumar was one of the most legendary artists we had in the industry. From his singing to his acting, audiences to date are fans of his craft. His work always kept him in the limelight, and so did his personal life. The ‘Padosan’ star was married four times. In an old interview, when his son, Amit Kumar from the first wedding, was asked if he ever questioned his father on this matter, he had the most heartwarming reply.

Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar never questioned his father about his four marriages – Here’s why

While speaking to Spotboye in 2016, Amit Kumar confessed to never questioning his father’s decision to marry four times. “No, it did not. It was all fine. In fact, he used to always tell me that I should tell him much in advance if I wanted to tie the knot because ‘He is the counsellor of marriages’. He used to say, ‘I got bowled not once but thrice’.” He continued, no matter what people said, his father just wanted a simple family life. However, it seems like fate had something else in store. Amit said, “He was not destined to have a simple family life until his last few years, when he married Leena Chandavarkar. My mother, Leenaji, myself, my wife and my kids, we all stay together. And, everything is fine.”For the unversed, Kishore Kumar married for the first time in 1950. He tied the knot with Bengal singer-actor Ruma Guha Thakurta. The couple’s marriage lasted till 1958, and they had a son, Amit Kumar. Reportedly, while Kishore and Ruma were dealing with their divorce process, Kumar fell in love with Madhubala. The two got married in 1960, and their relationship lasted till 1969. After his second marriage ended, he gave love another chance and tied the knot with Yogeeta Bali. It was his shortest relationship, as they got married in 1976 and got divorced in 1978. Thereafter, he finally found happiness in Leena Chandavarkar.

Kishore Kumar and Leena

Leena Chandavarkar called Kishore Kumar a pillar of strength

Leena Chandavarkar and Kishore Kumar spent seven years together. She was with him during his last days, and his demise left her shattered. Remembering him during an interaction with us, Leena shared, “Kishoreji was a pillar of strength who taught me that you win some and lose some. He would show his funny side to the world, but never his sad face. Whenever I feel low, I close the doors, switch on the TV, put the volume loud, and have a good cry. Then I have a cup of tea… and smile again.” Go to Source
