Katy Perry, the ‘Watch It Burn’ hitmaker, cancelled her performance at the Werchter Boutique festival in Belgium on short notice due to inclement weather and crowd safety concerns. The 41-year-old pop star expressed her disappointment on social media, citing government-mandated measures beyond her control that caused her to back out at the last minute. Here’s a closer look at Katy Perry’s performance being cancelled in Belgium due to extreme reasons.

Katy Perry reveals the last-minute cancellation

Katy Perry was scheduled to headline the Werchter Boutique festival in Belgium on Saturday, June 27, 2026. However, extreme weather conditions led the government to regulate crowd-centric events. “Sadly, my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can’t happen due to a government mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns,” she wrote in the caption on Instagram.“I was backstage at the show in the middle of hair and makeup when this news was delivered, and they gave me no choice. I am just as unhappy as you are. Unfortunately, this is beyond my control, but the safety of all 55,000 of you always comes first and foremost,” she continued, sharing her displeasure with the circumstances. Furthermore, the ‘Dark Horse’ singer apologised to the crowd and expressed her excitement about performing after nearly two decades. “I was looking forward to being back after 17 years. I was even gonna wear the same outfit from that 2009 show again. I love you all, and please get home safe,” ‘The One That Got Away’ star concluded. Werchter Boutique festival shared an update on Instagram that the severe storm had passed over the country, and the site crew could ensure everyone reached home safely.
