Karur stampede case: Vijay seeks 15 days

Karur stampede case: 'Jana Nayagan' star Vijay seeks 15 days from CBI for questioning

Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay has been summoned by the CBI for questioning in the Karur Stampede case. He has requested a 15-day extension due to election campaigning and a change of location from Delhi to Chennai. Meanwhile, a viral appearance with Trisha at a wedding reception occurred amidst personal life rumours, which Vijay addressed, urging fans not to worry.

Thalapathy Vijay has once again been summoned for questioning in connection with the Karur Stampede case. The investigation is currently being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The probe agency had asked Vijay to appear before the investigation team on March 10, 2026 and this would have been his third round of questioning in the case. The stampede tragedy occurred in September 2025 and has since remained under detailed investigatigation and recent reports from Deccan Herald now indicate that the actor-politician has made two requests to the investigating team regarding the questioning process.

Request for 15-day extension

Reportedly Vijay has requested 15 additional days before appearing for questioning and this request was made because of his ongoing political commitments. The actor has been actively participating in campaign activities ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections. Due to these commitments Vijay reportedly asked the investigation team to grant him more time before he appears for the next round of questioning. The request is said to be part of a formal communication sent to the agency.

Request to change questioning location

Apart from the extension request Vijay has also sought a change in the location of questioning. The ‘Jana Nayagan’ actor was earlier asked to appear at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi. However, considering his busy schedule, he has requested the agency to conduct the questioning in Chennai or any nearby location instead. Reports suggest that this request was made to avoid travel complications while he continues his political campaign. As of now, the investigation team has not taken a final decision regarding the change of location or the extension of time. However there are indications that the agency might consider rescheduling the questioning and this possibility is being discussed due to Vijay’s current political engagements.

Viral appearance with Trisha

Recently a video featuring Vijay and actress Trisha Krishnan recently went viral on social media. The clip showed the two stars arriving together at a wedding reception in traditional attire. Vijay was seen stepping out of a car while holding a bouquet. Trisha was seen walking behind him as they entered the venue. The event was the wedding reception of the son of film producer Kalpathi Suresh and his wife Meenakshi.

Vijay addresses rumours

The viral appearance also sparked conversations online because it came during a sensitive period in Vijay’s personal life. Reports had suggested that the actor was dealing with personal issues involving his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam.Amid the discussions Vijay addressed the situation briefly during a Women’s Meet event. He urged his fans not to worry about the rumours or controversies surrounding him.As reported by News18, the actor reassured supporters during his speech, “Don’t worry about the recent problems surrounding me. Those issues are not worth your time. I will take care of them myself. What hurts me the most is seeing you feel sad or stressed because of my problems.”Vijay was last seen in Venkat Prabhu’s action flick ‘GOAT’.
