Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer ‘Karuppu’ continues to witness drops in collections as the film moves further into its theatrical run. The movie has maintained its presence at the box office for more than three weeks. However daily collections are gradually slowing down.According to Sacnilk estimates, ‘Karuppu’ collected Rs 70 lakhs net on Day 22. The latest figure represents a 22.2 percent decline compared to the previous day’s net collection of Rs 90 lakhs. The film achieved these numbers across 869 shows. The India net collection currently stands at Rs 190.05 crore. Meanwhile, India gross collections have climbed to Rs 219.70 crore. ‘Karuppu’ has grossed Rs 80.00 crore from international markets so far.The film’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 299.70 crore. The fantasy actioner film now sits just a short distance away from crossing the Rs 300 crore mark.

Earlier weeks delivered strong numbers

‘Karuppu’ benefited heavily from its opening week performance. Day 6 of the film brought Rs 10.70 crore with 6,194 shows and an occupancy of 31.3 percent. Day 7 added another Rs 8.10 crore across 5,140 shows while occupancy stood at 30.5 percent. The film completed its first week with a total collection of Rs 113.85 crore.Even during the third week, ‘Karuppu’ continued to bring stable numbers. Day 21 had collected Rs 90 lakhs across 1,860 shows with 16.3 percent occupancy. The overall Week 3 collection stood at Rs 21.20 crore.

Night shows show better occupancy

Day 22 occupancy figures showed stronger audience turnout during later screenings. Morning shows remained comparatively lower. ‘Karuppu’ recorded an overall occupancy of 20.36 percent on Day 22.Morning shows registered 7.36 percent occupancy. Afternoon occupancy climbed to 23.45 percent. Evening shows later recorded 15.73 percent. Night shows once again led the chart with 27.09 percent occupancy.ETimes review for the film reads, “What makes Karuppu initially engaging is how firmly it roots itself in the legal proceedings surrounding a stolen jewels case involving Indrans and Anagha Maaya Ravi, who play a helpless father and daughter. The first half spends considerable time building investment in their desperation, vulnerability and pursuit of justice, which in turn gives the film both its emotional core and its most effective mass-movie hook: the idea of an ordinary man challenging a God forced to live and behave as a mortal.”The review further added, “We have Baby Kannan (RJ Balaji, in effective mode), a crafty lawyer who has gamed the system for so long that even the judge, Rajanayagam (Natty Subramaniam), appears to dance to his tunes. Even the one truthful lawyer in the courtroom, Preethi (Trisha Krishnan), struggles to win cases despite being able to prove malpractice. So, when Baby Kannan boldly challenges Vettai Karuppu (Suriya, in full aura-farming mode), the deity who descends to help the father-daughter duo, to win the case without resorting to divine powers, Karuppu finds genuine dramatic tension because the conflict feels rooted in human stakes rather than divine invincibility.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
