Karisma’s kids yet to receive Rs 1900 cr; control still with Priya

Karisma Kapoor's children yet to receive Rs 1900 cr; control of Sanjay Kapur's assets remains with Priya Kapur: Report

The legal battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s wealth intensifies. Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, seek their share of his assets. They contest the validity of the will. Priya Kapur, Sunjay’s widow, faces scrutiny. The Delhi High Court directs her to disclose all assets. The dispute involves claims about the RK family trust.

All eyes are on the ongoing high-profile inheritance battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s assets. While his widow Priya Kapur is of the opinon that Karisma Kapoor’s children have already received Rs 1,900 crore through the RK family trust, reports suggest that this is not true and the children do not have access to the money.

Children file case seeking share of Rs 30,000 crore assets

Sunjay Kapur’s children, Samaira (20) and Kiaan (15), represented by their mother Karisma Kapoor, have filed a case against Priya Kapur seeking a share of their father’s Rs 30,000 crore assets. They allege that the will was suppressed and forged, claiming it only surfaced seven weeks after his death.

Dispute over RK family trust claims

Kapur’s counsel has told the Delhi High Court that Karisma’s children have already received Rs 1,900 crore through the RK family trust. However, a report in Financial Express stated that this figure is based on the value of Sona Comstar shares, and the children have not actually received any of the shares, which are still held in the trust. A source told the portal, “Control of these assets remains with Priya Sachdev Kapur, and the children have no access to them.”According to reports from the courtroom proceedings, the children have still not received a copy of the will or any details about their father’s personal assets.

Litigation aimed at securing children’s inheritance

Karisma’s lawyer, Mahesh Jethmalani, a senior advocate said, “Assuming the estate is worth Rs 30,000 crore and the children having allegedly received Rs 1,900cr from the RK Trust, still leaves over Rs 28,000cr to Priya Sachdev Kapur. Would she forsake a good part of that fortune? One has to understand and appreciate that this litigation is to ensure all the five Class 1 heirs including the two children of Karisma and Sunjay Kapur receive fair access to his estate.”He further added that the litigation is not about the benefits from the trust, but about securing the children’s future through their rightful inheritance of their late father’s personal assets. “This litigation is about securing the future of Sunjay Kapur’s children and ensuring fair access to the assets held in India and abroad,” said Jethmalani.

Delhi High Court directs Priya to disclose assets

As reported by TOI’s City Desk, the Delhi High Court directed Priya to disclose all assets, both movable and immovable, as of 12 June 2025, the date of his demise. The court said, “Defendant No. 1 (Priya) will file a list of all assets (of the deceased), immovable and movable, known to her as on June 12, 2025. List after three weeks for consideration of ad-interim injunction at 2:30 PM.”The High Court examined the will and returned it to Priya’s lawyers but suggested it could be shared with the plaintiffs, Samaira and Kiaan, if they sign a non-disclosure agreement.
