Karan Johar buys Rs 8.05 crore Khar West apartment, reinforces faith in Mumbai real estate - Report

Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar has bought a premium residential apartment in Mumbai’s Khar West for Rs 8.05 crore, signalling continued confidence in the city’s high-end real estate market.According to property registration documents accessed by Square Yards from the Maharashtra Inspector General of Registration (IGR) website, the transaction was officially registered in November 2025. The apartment is located in Pali Vintage, a residential development in Khar West, and has a carpet area of 1,060.13 sq ft (98.49 sq metres). The purchase also includes two exclusive car parking spaces. Johar paid stamp duty of Rs 48 lakh along with registration charges of Rs 30,000.

Why Khar West remains a sought-after address

Khar West remains one of Mumbai’s most desirable residential neighbourhoods, favoured by celebrities and professionals alike for its balance of connectivity and lifestyle. The area is well connected via Linking Road, SV Road and the Western Express Highway, while Khar Road railway station on the Western Line provides suburban rail access. Its proximity to Bandra, Santacruz and Andheri, along with smooth connectivity to business hubs such as Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Lower Parel via the Bandra–Worli Sea Link, adds to its appeal. Over the years, Khar West has evolved into a premium residential address featuring boutique developments, upscale retail outlets, restaurants, entertainment hubs, and reputed educational and healthcare institutions.
