Kantara 2 mints USD 320K on day 6 in North America

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara : A Legend Chapter 1’ sees more than 80 % jump in North America

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ has taken India by storm, nearing the impressive milestone of ₹300 crore. Yet, its performance in North America tells a different story, where projections suggest a significant deficit for distributors due to its steep acquisition costs. In contrast, ‘They Call Him OG’ similarly grapples with the challenging landscape, lagging behind its breakeven target.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara : A Legend Chapter 1’ has been creating havoc at the Indian box office as it inches towards Rs 300 crore mark but in the North American circuit the film is having a lackluster release. The film on its premiere day was able to earn just USD 500K and by the end of it’s day the film has finally managed to cross the USD 3 million mark. As John Wooden once said ‘It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen’. The very important detail in Kantara 2’s case is the day 6 early evening collection. The film till early evening has collected USD 320K which is a more than 100 % jump from its day 5 collection of USD 170K. With the numbers from late night shows still coming in , one can expect the film to record a 100 % jump and cross USD 340K mark. Though the film is still in its first week and will be having a decent run at the box office with no other big Indian film releasing but the film is currently looking at a loss in the circuit. The film was sold at a very high price and its breakeven in North America has been pegged at US 7.5 million. With the current going the distributors are looking at a loss of at least Rs 10 to Rs 15 crore. Same is the case with Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG. The film has till now minted USD 5.5 million but is still far away from it’s breakeven point. Kantara 2 continues to dominate the Indian market as it has become the third biggest hit of the year beating films like Rajinikant’s Coolie, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 and Ashwin Kumar mythological animation giant Mahavatar Narsimha.
