Kantara 2 mints Rs 50 crore in Hindi in 3 days

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ mints Rs 50 crore in Hindi outperforming 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari'

Rishab Shetty’s “Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1” opened spectacularly in Hindi, collecting Rs 50 crore in just three days, overshadowing “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.” Despite a slight Day 2 dip, the film is poised to cross Rs 100 crore in Hindi by week’s end, with an overall Rs 250 crore projected. Overseas, however, it faces significant losses.

It was the year 2022 when Rishab Shetty released Kantara in Southern markets but it took about two weeks for the film to have it’s Hindi release. The film minted over Rs 310 crore in India of which about Rs 84 crore just from Hindi despite a delayed release. Now for Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, the film released the same day-date release as the southern market and the Hindi market didn’t disappoint. The film opened to Rs 18.5 crore collection on day 1 which was a holiday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera. On day 2 the film witnessed a drop but it still minted in double figures. The film on day 2 collected Rs 12.5 crore on on day 3 ( Saturday) the film collected Rs 19 crore taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 50 crore as per Sacnilk. With this Rishab and Rukimini Vasanth’s film has completed overshadowed the Hindi release of the week Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari which had a three day collection of Rs 22 crore.

Going by the trend Kantara 2 would be crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in Hindi by the end of Week 1 and the overall collection of the film is expected to hit Rs 250 crore by Thursday. It has already become the 11th biggest grosser of the year in India. Though Kantara is doing amazing business in India, the overseas market is where it has taken a major beating. The overseas rights were sold for about Rs 50 crore and the distributors are looking at a loss of at least Rs 10 crore.
