Natarajan ChandrasekaranTata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) is targeting annual sales of more than 1.2 million vehicles and a 20 per cent market share by FY30, while aiming for 15 per cent volume growth and 20 per cent revenue growth over the next five years, Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said on Wednesday.
Addressing shareholders at the company’s 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chandrasekaran said the passenger vehicle business aims to achieve a 10-fold increase in volumes between FY20 and FY30 through new product launches, electrification and investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies.
“Between FY20 and FY30, we want to achieve a 10x growth in volumes with an ambition of 1.2 million-plus vehicles and a 20 per cent market share,” he said.
Chandrasekaran said Tata Motors will continue to focus on launching aspirational products, adding that the upcoming Sierra SUV has the potential to become one of the company’s best-selling models, with production capacity to be scaled up based on demand.
The company is also strengthening collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in manufacturing and product development. He said the recently operational Panapakkam facility in Tamil Nadu will manufacture next-generation vehicles, including electric models, for both Tata Motors and JLR.
Calling the proposed demerger of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle businesses a “very decisive step”, Chandrasekaran said the move would create two focused, future-ready businesses with stronger growth prospects.
Reaffirming Tata Motors’ commitment to electric mobility, he said the company’s passenger vehicle market share has increased from 4.2 per cent before the pandemic to 14.2 per cent currently, supported by successful product launches and its early focus on EVs.
On JLR, Chandrasekaran said the luxury carmaker’s FY26 performance was impacted by a cyber incident that temporarily disrupted production, but added that both JLR and Tata Motors have entered FY27 with confidence, backed by a strong pipeline of new products and powertrains.
