Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ beats ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ as it becomes 4th biggest grosser of 2025

In a remarkable cinematic achievement, Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ has taken the box office by storm, raking in an astonishing Rs 256.50 crore in merely five days. Wrestling its way past other major releases, it now proudly claims the title of the fourth highest-grossing film of the year.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is turning out to be a legend killer at the box office since the day of its release. The film minted Rs 61.85 crore on its opening day becoming the 3rd biggest day 1 grosser of the year. At the end of 5 days the film has gone on to collect Rs 256.50 crore making it the 4th biggest grosser of the year. On Sunday morning the film was in 11th position by the end on Monday night the film jumped 6 positions to become the 4th biggest money spinner of the year . Kantara sequel has nudged past Ashwin Kumar’s mythological animation giant Mahavtar Narimsha which has collected Rs 251.14 crore. Mahavtar Narimsha though released on OTT, is still in theaters and doing great business for a film which has been in cinemas for more than 8 weeks.

In it’s jump for 11th to 4th position Kantara 2 has gone past films like Aamir Khan’s Sitaara Zameen Par ( 167.46 crore) , Ajay Devgn ‘s Raid 2 ( Rs 173.44 crore) , Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5( Rs 183.38 crore) , Pawan Kalyan’s They call Him OG( Rs 184.07 crore) , Venkatesh’s Sanskranthiki Vasthunam ( Rs 186.97 crore) and Hrithik Roshan- Jr NTR’s War 2 ( Rs 236.55 crore) . Now only three films ahead of it are Rajinikanth’s Coolie, Ahaan Panday- Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. Kantara 2 looks primed to touch Rs 300 crore mark before the end of week 1. With current numbers the film needs another Rs 85 crore to break into the list of Top 20 biggest grossers of Indian Cinema.
