Kantara 2 fails to beats Chaava as highest third week collection of 2025

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ fails to beat Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ as the highest third week collection of 2025

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continues to dominate the box office in India but when it comes to record books it has found a formidable opponent in Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava. And Chhaava has had an upper hand over Kantara 2 not only in Week 2 but also in Week 3.

Kantara 2 was unable to break Chaava’s 2nd weekend and 2nd week collections and now it has failed to break Chhaava’s Week 3 collections as well. It has now become the second highest Week 3 collection of 2025 behind Chhaav.

As per Sacnilk, Vicky Kaushal- Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna starrer Chhaava had minted Rs 84.05 crore in its third which was extremely helpful in catapulting the film’s lifetime collection into Rs 600 crore club. In comparison Kantara 2 earned Rs 78.5 crore in its third week falling short by more than Rs 5 crore to displace Chhaava from the top spot.

But Kantara 2 was able to beat Ashwin Kumar’s animated mythological film Mahvatar Narimsha which had gone on to collect over Rs 70 crore at the box office in its third week. Kantara 2 also passed Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara which was the second biggest hit of the year- it had collected Rs 28.25 crore in the third week.

Kantara 2 started its third week on a slow note as it earned Rs 8.5 crore on Friday but on Saturday it saw 50 % jump to collect Rs 12.75 crore and on Sunday the collection jumped to Rs 17 crore. Though Monday saw a small dip as it earned Rs 11.65 crore but the numbers stayed steady on Tuesday as it collected Rs 11.75 crore. Wednesday once again witnessed a minor dip to collect Rs 10.6 crore with Thursday number falling to Rs 6.25 crore.

It would be interesting to see how the film fares from here now as two new releases Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat would also be trying to get maximum viewership.
