‘ I made mistake’: Jayaram breaks silence on ‘Twenty:20’ trolls; Clarifies his connection with Tamil Nadu

Actor Jayaram has finally addressed the social media trolling surrounding his earlier remarks about the climax shoot of multi-starrer ‘Twenty:20’. Over the past few months, clips from two old interviews resurfaced online, with many users pointing out that the actor had given different explanations about where he went during the film’s climax schedule.In one interview, Jayaram had said he travelled to celebrate Diwali. In another, he mentioned that he had gone to Sabarimala. The contrasting statements led to heavy trolling against the actor on social media.

Jayaram says he can’t blame the people

Speaking to Vanitha about the issue, Jayaram accepted that he made an error and explained that the passage of time had made it difficult for him to recall the exact sequence of events.He said, “I can’t blame the people. I made a mistake in what I said. The incident happened 15 to 20 years ago. To be honest, even I don’t remember it clearly now. I honestly don’t remember whether I had gone to Madras or somewhere else. I even asked the people who were involved with that incident, and they don’t remember either. I stayed there for about five or six days. It happened 15 to 20 years ago. Perhaps these memory lapses come with age.”

Clarifying his connection with Tamil Nadu

Jayaram also opened up about his close association with Tamil Nadu. The actor explained that his family background naturally connects him to both Kerala and Tamil Nadu.He said, “My father is from Palakkad and my mother is from Kumbakonam. My father got a job in Perumbavoor, so our family moved there. My grandfather was also from Perumbavoor. I was born, brought up and educated there. But since my mother wasn’t fluent in Malayalam, I always spoke to her in Tamil. Until the day she passed away, I spoke to her only in Tamil. Even now, I have many relatives there. I visit our family temple once every year. I didn’t make up anything.”

Living in Chennai for over three decades

Jayaram also pointed out that his professional journey eventually led him to settle in Chennai, where he has lived for many years. According to the actor, that experience has naturally become an important part of his identity.He explained, “I have been living in Madras (Chennai) for the last 32 years. I moved there because of my work and settled there. That’s how I became a Chennai resident. Our house in Perumbavoor is still there. But if someone asks me whether I’m from here or there, what should I say? There are so many people from Kerala who have been working in Delhi, Mumbai or Dubai for years. If someone has worked in Delhi for decades, can they simply say they are from Delhi?”On the work front, Jayaram’s recent film is ‘Parimala and Co.’ Go to Source
