James Gunn on ‘The Furious’: ‘I didn't think Kenji Tanagaki could outdo himself’

The Furious will release in Indian theatres on June 19

‘The Furious’ is one of the highest-rated action films in recent years. Made by filmmaker Kenji Tanagaki, the film has been creating quite a buzz online. Recently, fellow filmmaker James Gunn attended a screening of the film along with his ‘Man of Tomorrow’ cast and crew. Following this, the director ended up sharing just how much he loved the film.

James Gunn talks about ‘The Furious’ after attending the screening

The famed filmmaker took his social media account after attending a screening of ‘The Furious’ to share his excitement over the film. He opened up about just how glad he was to watch the film and stated that Kenji Tanagaki surprised him even more so than in his last film.He wrote in his post, “Oh boy! Just went with a bunch of #ManofTommorrow cast & crew to see #TheFurious. I didn’t think Kenji Tanagaki could outdo himself after the spectacular Walled In, but man The Furious really showed him as one of the best action filmmakers working.”He shared the comment along with the group photo of all people that attended the screening along with him. He further concluded his post by sharing “We all loved it!” His enthusiastic endorsement is likely to further raise anticipation for the action film among moviegoers.” Many people agreed with him in the comment section and talked about sharing his excitement about the film.

Plot of ‘The Furious’

The synopsis for the film reads, “After the daughter of Wang Wei (Xie Miao) is kidnapped by a criminal network and he receives no help from the corrupt police, Wei sets out on a rampage to find her himself. His only ally is Navin (Joe Taslim) — a relentless journalist whose wife has mysteriously disappeared. Fueled by a furious vengeance, the unlikely duo ruthlessly fights against the kidnappers in this explosive martial arts showdown.”Actor Xie Miao plays the lead, while the film cast also includes Brian Le, Joey Iwanaga [ja], Yayan Ruhian, and Jeeja Yanin. The film is highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes, which shows that critics have rated the film 97%, while fans have rated the film 95%.‘The Furious’ is going to be released in Indian theatres on June 19.
