Jack White addresses his comment about Taylor Swift after backlash

Rock singer Jack White clarifies his comments on Taylor Swift; says he did not call her music ‘boring’

Jack White clarified his recent remarks on Taylor Swift’s songwriting, stating he never called her music ‘boring.’ He explained his personal preference for not writing about himself, emphasizing respect for artists who choose different approaches. White’s comments followed backlash after he expressed finding extensive personal narratives in pop songs, like Swift’s, uninteresting for his own creative process.

Recently, musician and former member of the White Stripes, Jack White, made certain comments about Taylor Swift and her music. After facing public backlash and scrutiny over the matter, White made his stance clear on what he really thought about the ‘Opalite’ singer’s music.

Jack White talks about his opinions on Taylor Swift’s music

Taking to his social media handle, White officially addressed his past comments about Taylor Swift and her music, citing that he “didn’t say that I think Taylor Swift’s music was ‘boring’ or whatever clickbait the net is trying to scrape together. What I was trying to say in an interview I did about poetry and lyric writing, was that I don’t find it interesting at all for ME to write about MYSELF in my own lyric writing and poetry because I think it could be repetitive for ME.”He further shared that he has respect for other artists who have established themselves in the music industry in their own way. He further cemented his stance on the matter, citing that just because he has a certain way of doing things, he does not wish for everyone around him to follow the same pattern. The statement comes soon after he started facing backlash for a recent comment he made about Swift’s style of writing songs. Read ahead to know more about what he said that caused public outrage.

More about Jack White’s past comment about Taylor Swift’s music

While talking to The Guardian recently, White was asked about his music style and the way of songwriting. In response, he shared that he often did not get how people write about their private experiences so extensively in songs. He had stated, “Now it’s become very popular in the Taylor Swift way of pop singers writing about all of their publicly aired break-ups, which I don’t find interesting at all. I think it’s a little bit boring for me to write about myself.”Further clarifying what worked for him as an artist, he added at the time that, “If it’s something really painful, I’m not going to put this important, painful thing that I went through out there for some idiot on the internet to stomp all over.”
