‘Idli Kadai’ maintains steady run: Crosses Rs 48 crores

'Idli Kadai' box office collections day 12: Dhanush’s drama holds strong; Nears Rs 50 crore mark

Dhanush’s directorial venture ‘Idli Kadai’ is proving its mettle at the box office, holding steady with daily earnings around Rs 1 crore despite an early setback. On its twelfth day, the film amassed about Rs 1.43 crore, bringing its domestic total to a commendable Rs 48.08 crore.

Despite an initial dip after its first week, Dhanush’s film ‘Idli Kadai’ has managed to maintain consistent daily collections. Reportedly the movie is holding firmly at around Rs 1 crore each day.According to early estimates by the Sacnilk website, ‘Idli Kadai’ earned approximately Rs 1.43 crore on its twelfth day. This has resulted in taking the total domestic collection to Rs 48.08 crore.Reportedly, the film’s first-week earnings stood at an impressive Rs 44.25 crore. The Tamil version contributed Rs 41.1 crore of the total and the Telugu version added Rs 3.15 crore.

Second week numbers

After a noticeable dip on Day 6, Idli Kadai regained pace over the weekend. The second Saturday saw a jump of more than 80%. The film collected Rs 1.55 crore on second Saturday, while Sunday brought in Rs 1.43 crore. On Sunday, October 12, the movie recorded a 42.12% occupancy rate across Tamil Nadu theatres.Coming to occupancy figures, the morning shows registered 23.85%, afternoon shows 49.46%, evening shows 53.90%, and night shows 41.25%.

About ‘Idli Kadai’

Directed by Dhanush himself, ‘Idli Kadai’ features an ensemble cast including Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Sathyaraj, Shalini Pandey, and Rajkiran. The film is touted to be a drama that appeals mostly to the family audiences. Mixed reports arrived in for the Dhanush starrer after the opening day with one Twitter review reading, “Dhanush and Rajkiran shine making Idli Kadai a warm but slightly overcooked comfort meal.” Another Twitter review reads, “Outdated in every department. Lot of AVPL moments. Every character is doing an Anbil Mahesh here.”
