Hrithik Roshan BREAKS silence on ‘War 2’

Hrithik Roshan BREAKS silence on ‘War 2’; pens note after film’s disappointing Box Office run: 'Everything seemed so perfect'

‘War 2’ hit the cinemas on August 14, 2025. Before its release, the film carried sky-high expectations, bringing together two of the biggest stars. Hrithik Roshan’s much-awaited return as Kabir, paired with Jr NTR’s powerful presence, promised a thrilling ride for fans. Released in the prized Independence Day window, a time usually marked by massive box office winners, the film was expected to roar. However, despite all the buzz, the action thriller landed with mixed reviews and fell short of the grand box office hopes. Now, more than a month later, Hrithik Roshan has spoken about playing Kabir in the sequel.

Hrithik Roshan shares memories from ‘War 2’ set

Hrithik recently shared behind-the-scenes stills from the film’s shoot along with a long note on social media. In his caption, he revealed how returning to Kabir felt almost effortless, “Playing kabir was so much fun. So relaxed , knew him so well. It was going to be easy. Finally a movie I could do like so many others do, keep it simple , play the actor, do your job and come home. And it was exactly that. I was taken care of so well by my director Ayaan. It was such a pleasure to have his energy on set.”The actor spoke fondly of director Ayan Mukerji and the comfortable atmosphere on set, which made the process smooth and enjoyable.

Hrithik Roshan admits everything seemed too perfect

Roshan then admitted that while the role felt easy, a small voice of doubt never really left him. He said, “Everything seemed so perfect. Like it’s meant to be. A sure shot. No worries , just needed to do my job right. Which Ofcourse I did. But something was lurking behind that presumptuous certainty. A voice that I kept shutting out..”He continued by revealing the conflict inside him, “This is too easy … I know this too well.” And another that said “I deserve it , every film doesn’t have to be a torture and trauma and an incessant search for the truth of the moment.””Just relax.”

‘War 2’ box office

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, ‘War 2’ was loaded with star power. Alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the film featured Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana. As reported by Hindustan Times, the film carried a landing cost of Rs 400 crore, which included both production and marketing expenses.Despite the budget and star cast, the film did not perform as expected. According to Sacnilk, ‘War 2’ collected a little over Rs 236.55 crore net in India.

‘War 2’ review

The Times of India review gave the film 3 out of 5 stars. A part of the review reads, “Hrithik Roshan brings gravitas to the screen as the roguish yet poised Kabir. He impresses as a high-octane action hero and in the film’s emotional moments. Junior NTR matches his energy and intensity, holding his own as a performer and in executing the action sequences. Kiara Advani makes her presence felt despite limited screen time, though the use of stunt doubles in an early fight scene is noticeable. Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor are impactful in their roles. War 2 offers high-octane moments, striking visuals, and polished production to make for a passable big-screen experience. Strictly watchable only if you’re in it purely for the action and spectacle.” Go to Source
