Hema Malini wanted Esha Deol to marry Abhishek Bachchan

Hema Malini wanted Esha Deol to marry Abhishek Bachchan, wanted a son-in-law like him, but the 'Dhoom' actress said THIS

Esha Deol has been under the spotlight lately after her divorce with Bharat Takhtani. Esha and Bharat got married in 2012 and have two daughters – Radhya Takhtani and Miraya Takhtani. They announced their divorce in 2024. Recently, Bharat’s latest post sparked rumours that he’s moved on as he dropped photo with Megha Lakhani. He took to his Instagram stories, shared a picture with her with a heart emoji and wrote, “Welcome to my family.” While Bharat seems to have moved on , Esha also seems happy in her space as she’s begun to concentrate on work again. But did you know, that years ago, Hema Malini had confessed that she would want Esha to marry Abhishek Bachchan? Hema Malini and Dharmendra share a great rapport with Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan. They worked together in many movies – of course, ‘Sholay’ being the most iconic. As Hema Malini knew how Abhishek was as a person, she thought he was the perfect son-in-law and husband for her daughter. However, Esha refused. Esha Deol has shared her views on this during an interview with India Forum. During the conversation, she was asked, “In an interview with Karan Johar, your mother clearly said that she would like to have a son-in-law like Abhishek Bachchan. Would you like to comment on this?”Responding to this, Esha said, “My mother is really very sweet. She took Abhishek’s name because at that time he was the most eligible bachelor. She wanted me to settle down with a good person, and in her eyes Abhishek Bachchan seemed to be the best. But I don’t want to marry Abhishek Bachchan.”Talking further about the actor, Esha added, “Because I consider him like my elder brother. So, sorry mom.” Apart from Abhishek Bachchan, there were also reports that Hema Malini wanted Vivek Oberoi to be her son-in-law. However, when Esha was asked about this, she clearly denied it.Speaking about Vivek Oberoi, Esha Deol said, “Mom thinks of all sorts of things. But definitely not Vivek. He is not my type at all.”
