Has Ranbir Kapoor quit alcohol and turned vegetarian for his role as Lord Ram in Ramayana? Here's what we know

Ranbir Kapoor is preparing for his role as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ by adopting a sattvic lifestyle. Reports indicate he has quit alcohol and turned vegetarian, alongside early workouts and meditation, to embody the character’s spiritual purity. Kapoor has also reportedly quit smoking for his daughter, Raha, focusing on a healthier lifestyle as he enters his 40s.

Ranbir Kapoor is busy with his highly anticipated film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where he will play Lord Ram. Reports now say he is making some lifestyle changes to prepare for the role.

Lifestyle changes for the role

On Friday, paparazzo Viral Bhayani shared that Ranbir has quit alcohol and turned vegetarian to play Lord Ram in Ramayana. He is reportedly following a strict sattvic diet, doing early workouts, and practicing meditation to reflect the character’s spiritual discipline.A News18 report claimed that an insider revealed that Ranbir chose these lifestyle changes to reflect purity while portraying Lord Ram on screen.

Quitting smoking for family

Ranbir has also mentioned quitting smoking after the birth of his daughter, Raha. He said he’s focused on spending time with her, cleaning up his lifestyle, and staying healthy as he enters his 40s—for both himself and his child.The Ramayana teaser begins with the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Using striking animation, it then introduces key characters: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana.

Our History,” wrote the makers while sharing the first look.Ramayana will be released worldwide: Part 1 on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027.In Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will play Ram, while Sai Pallavi will essay the role of Sita. KGF star Yash will portray Ravana, with Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Laxman. Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will play Mandodari and Surpanakha. The film also features Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan in key roles.
