Varun Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ had a successful first weekend at the box office. The film, featuring Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde as the female leads, has been scoring well despite clashing with multiple movies at cinemas. However, the first Monday will reveal if the film is actually receiving love from the audience.

The David Dhawan-directed film opened to a net of Rs 7.50 crore. The second day at the theatres added another Rs 7.25 crore to the film’s total collection. Now, according to the Sacnilk report, the movie witnessed a growth of 20% compared to its previous day’s earnings. It raked in Rs 9 crore across 8,616 shows on Day 3.With that, the total India net collection has reached Rs 24 crore, while the total India gross collection stands at Rs 28.80 crore.Meanwhile, overseas, the Varun Dhawan starrer has collected a net of Rs 3.00 crore on Day 3, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 8.50 crore. This has pushed the worldwide gross collection to Rs 37.30 crore.

Box office competition

The final David Dhawan directorial clashed with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bandar’, starring Bobby Deol in the lead. Along with that, it also locked horns with Buchi Babu Sana’s ‘Peddi’, featuring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur film is also sharing screens with the Hollywood release ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’.
