Govinda reacts to being ‘defamed’ for arriving late on sets

‘Kiske baap ke andar taaqat hai…': Govinda reacts to being ‘defamed’ for arriving late on sets

Govinda has finally addressed the persistent rumors about his alleged habit of arriving late on film sets.Appearing on the talk show Too Much with Kajol and Twinkle, the veteran star shared how he has been “defamed” over the issue, expressing disappointment over the way it has affected his reputation.“Mai defame huwa hu ki mai time pe nahi aata hu. Maine kaha ‘kiske baap ke andar taaqat hai ki woh 5 shift kare aur time pe aaye. Possible hi nahi hai, ho hi nahi sakta. Itni zyada shooting kaise karega aadmi? Yaha toh ek picture ke andar thak jate hai log,”(“I’ve been defamed for not arriving on time. I said, ‘Whose father has the strength to do five shifts and still come on time? It’s just not possible, it can’t be done. How can a person handle so much shooting? Here, people get tired doing just one film.’)the actor said, defending himself against the accusations.Govinda says delays are not always in his controlThe Hero No. 1 star explained that while he understands the importance of punctuality, many delays occur due to reasons beyond an actor’s control. “Sometimes delays are outside one’s control — due to traffic, scheduling issues, or other departments not being ready,”Govinda clarified. He further pointed out that the media has exaggerated these stories, transforming minor incidents into negative narratives that paint him as unprofessional. The actor said this has been hurtful, considering his decades of contribution to Indian cinema. Govinda says respect should be mutualGovinda also used the opportunity to urge for more empathy within the film fraternity.“People should think before spreading rumors. Respect should always be mutual among coworkers,”he remarked, emphasizing that no one should jump to conclusions without knowing the full picture. With a career spanning over three decades, Govinda remains one of Bollywood’s most loved entertainers. His last theatrical release was Rangeela Raja in 2019. Unfortunately the movie received mixed reviews.
