Gordon Ramsay undergoes skin cancer surgery

Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay revealed that he underwent a treatment to remove Basal Cell Carcinoma, a skin cancer caused by sun exposure. The 58-year-old shared pictures of his face and thanked the ‘incredible’ healthcare workers. Humoring the surgery, he advised wearing sunscreen and jested, citing that it’s not a facelift.

Gordon Ramsay opens up about skin cancer

In an Instagram post by the chef, Ramsay shared two pictures of his left side of his face, with a plaster on it that covered the stitches. “Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this basal cell carcinoma, thank you,” he wrote in the caption, before adding, “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend ♥️I promise you it’s not a facelift. I’d need a refund.” Cancer Research UK commented, “Glad to hear you’re doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun ❤️ Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously.” Meanwhile, another user said, “Heal quickly Chef and thank you for bringing awareness to all of us.”

About Basal Cell Carcinoma

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is a non-melanoma form of skin cancer, and often begins as a slightly transparent bump on the skin, according to the Mayo Clinic. Most BCCs can be caused due to overexposure to Ultraviolet Rays. The report says skin cancer often develops on areas of skin exposed to the sun, such as the face and neck.

Gordon Ramsay and his previous health issue

Ramsay has always been open about his health, as previously, he described his crash with Men’s Health UK. He revealed that his bike spun 180 degrees after hitting a pothole, leading him to fly in the air. Attemptig to fix his chain, he continued to ride in blood, and saw his helmet split in half.
