Girija recalls why SRK apologised to everyone on Jawan set

Girija Oak recalls why Shah Rukh Khan apologised to everyone on Jawan set, 'A star of his stature didn’t need to do that, but he did'

Girija Oak has shared heartfelt anecdotes about working with Shah Rukh Khan, highlighting the superstar’s humility and consideration for everyone on set during the shoot of Jawan.

“He apologised to everyone on set”

In an interview with Hautterfly, Girija recalled an incident where Shah Rukh apologised to the entire crew after making a minor mistake during a scene. “During the shoot, Shah Rukh once made a mistake while delivering a dialogue. He immediately apologised to everyone—from the juniors onwards—saying, ‘Because of me, you’ll have to do one more take… sorry,’” she said, adding that the day had already been delayed. She further explained the challenging conditions on set, revealing that the temperature had to be kept unusually low because Shah Rukh was shooting with a wig. “If the environment wasn’t cold enough, he would sweat excessively because of the wig. But this meant the rest of us were freezing. Once the shot was ready, everyone would remove their jackets and prepare for the scene,” Girija shared. When the dialogue error led to a retake, Shah Rukh once again took responsibility. “With the cold and the delay already in place, he looked at everyone and genuinely said, ‘I am really sorry.’ A star of his stature didn’t need to do that, but he did,” she said, underlining his sensitivity towards his co-actors and the crew.Calling him deeply humane, Girija added, “He is always aware of who he is working with and consistently treats everyone on set with respect.”

“He ensured our safety in Chennai”

She also recalled another incident from Chennai, where Shah Rukh went out of his way to ensure the safety of his female co-actors. “When we were leaving for director Atlee’s birthday celebration, Shah Rukh sir asked us how we were getting there. When we told him we’d be taking the production car, he arranged for one vehicle from his security convoy to follow us all the way to the hotel,” she said. According to Girija, Shah Rukh’s guards stayed with them until they entered the hotel lift. “They wished us good night and left only after making sure we were safe,” she added, praising the actor’s thoughtfulness and care beyond the camera.
